Dear Families,
After careful consideration, the district has decided to close the Polk Virtual School (PVS) program. As a result, students currently enrolled in PVS will need to transition to a new learning option for the 2025-2026 school year.
We understand that this change may raise questions, and we are committed to supporting families through the transition. To assist in selecting the best educational path for your child, we have identified the following options:
- Return to the home-zoned school
- No action is required. Students currently enrolled who do not select another option will be automatically enrolled in their zoned school.
- Apply to another Polk County Public School through the controlled open enrollment
(COE) process.
- Complete the COE form and submit it to the district office as indicated on the form.Transportation will not be provided.
- Enroll as a full-time virtual student with Florida Virtual School
- Contact Polk Virtual School to request withdrawal.
- Enroll as a full-time virtual student with a different virtual provider (e.g., K12 Florida)
- Contact Polk Virtual School to request withdrawal.
- Register as home education student with Polk County Public Schools
- Contact Polk Virtual School to request withdrawal.
To further explain these options, assist with enrollment procedures, and answer any questions you may have, we will be hosting two parent meetings:
Monday, May 12th at 6 PM – Polk Virtual School
Tuesday, May 13th at 6 PM – Ridge Technical College
